10 Truths To Live By

1. Not everyone is going to like you. There are going to be A LOT of people who will oppose your every opinion, who will make it a daily task to belittle you. The problem stems from your reaction to it.

2. Treat others as THEY would like to be treated. Yes, I know the golden rule; “Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you”. But not everyone likes to be treated in the same way as you do. Some people would prefer to get bad news via email, while others prefer the face-to-face approach. (PLEASE NOTE: I don’t mean it in an abusive, mean-spirited way)

3. Laugh at yourself. I greatly admire people who ridicule themselves or who can laugh at their own follies.

4. It gets better. No matter how bad it may seem. No matter how down in the rut you are, it does get better. No one’s meant to suffer forever. It’s not over ‘til you take that last breath, and even that should be a victory.

5. “Active ambition” is the only type that counts. Dreams/ambitions are meant to be pursued, if they aren’t then they’re simply ideas.

6. Be careful with whom you share your dreams. Not everyone who is with you is for you. Some people are leeches or dream snatchers.

7. Not everyone is meant to be a permanent fixture in your life. Some people are only meant to be with us for a ‘season’/temporarily. Learn to when and how to let go. If they serve no purpose. Let them go. If they impact you negatively. Let them go. Make room for more valuable people.

8. Never let a relationship consume you. The term ‘better half’ annoys me. For I believe that a good relationship consists of two whole individuals who complement each other, and assist each other in the pursuit of individual and collective goals and happiness.

9. Meditate for 30 minutes at least once a week. So much is revealed/clarified when we allow ourselves to be still. Clear your mind of all external thoughts, find a quiet space and engage in some introspection.

10. Learning is a life-long activity. Open up yourself to new ideas, concepts etc. Learn a new skill, pick up a new hobby.

Remember you are great. You are a wonderful human being with incredible potential.
Carpe Diem!
